Chinese metaphysics is a body of knowledge developed over more than a thousand years of scholarly practice. The classical saying 一命二運三風水，四積陰德五讀書 — "first destiny, second luck, third feng shui, fourth virtue, fifth learning" — summarises the five factors the tradition considers most influential in shaping a person's life. BaZi reading, feng shui, date selection, and baby naming share a unified theoretical foundation rooted in Yin-Yang theory, the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), and the cyclic interactions of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches.
