The Tradition of Chinese Metaphysics

Chinese metaphysics is a body of knowledge developed over more than a thousand years of scholarly practice. The classical saying 一命二運三風水,四積陰德五讀書 — "first destiny, second luck, third feng shui, fourth virtue, fifth learning" — summarises the five factors the tradition considers most influential in shaping a person's life. BaZi reading, feng shui, date selection, and baby naming share a unified theoretical foundation rooted in Yin-Yang theory, the Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water), and the cyclic interactions of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches.

New Zealand's Chinese community has one of the longest histories of any diaspora group in Aotearoa, stretching back to the Otago gold rush of the 1860s. Today, approximately 248,000 people of Chinese ethnicity live in New Zealand, representing around 5.3 percent of the total population — the highest proportion of any country outside Asia. Auckland is the primary centre, with significant communities also in Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Dunedin.

Master Tinhan's Practice and the Zi Ping Method

Master Tinhan practises the Zi Ping method (子平法), the classical school of BaZi analysis refined since the Song dynasty. This approach centres on four analytical pillars: the Day Master (日主), the Useful God (用神), Format analysis (格局), and Seasonal Adjustment (調候). These four dimensions together produce readings of genuine depth.

Every report is personally written by Master Tinhan — never software-generated. The completed analysis is delivered as a detailed PDF through your secure account dashboard. Reports are written in clear English, with Chinese terminology explained throughout.

Serving Clients Across Aotearoa

Master Tinhan's practice is available to clients across New Zealand, whether you are in central Auckland, suburban Christchurch, a vineyard town in Hawke's Bay, or a rural community in Southland.

New Zealand Standard Time sits at UTC+12, while New Zealand Daylight Time shifts to UTC+13. Accurate time zone conversion is critical for BaZi chart construction — a birth recorded during NZDT must use the UTC+13 offset, not the standard UTC+12. Master Tinhan handles this conversion meticulously for every reading, referencing historical time zone records for births that occurred decades ago. Prices are listed in USD; your bank will convert to NZD at the current exchange rate.
